The Astra public catering centre, which included a restaurant, cafés, and a 200-seat canteen, was built in the centre of Druskininkai in 1983. The postmodern, eclectic building, designed by architect Česlovas Šliažas, connected the city’s main avenue to Šv. Jokūbo Street. After the restoration of independence, the premises were privatised to build a 48-bed orphanage, but due to the lack of adequate infrastructure, the plan was never realised. A few years ago, the former restaurant part of the building was renovated, trying to preserve the building’s volumetric composition and architectural expression, while redesigning the interior spaces for residential use.

Tours begin every 30 minutes and last 45 minutes. Last tour on Saturday starts at 7:00 pm., on Sunday – at 5:00 pm.
No in-advance registration is required. Access to the buildings will be managed by forming queues.
