About

“Pastatai kalba” – open architecture weekends in smaller cities of Lithuania. Its main goal is to provide everyone with an opportunity to become more acquainted with architecture, experience and grasp the value of our material surroundings. During such weekends, city buildings that are usually closed to the public will open up.

The project is based on the previous organizing experience of “Open House Vilnius“.

The main goal of the project is education. We aim to inform members of the public so they would become more aware, critical, curious of their local architecture and to provide them with the means to learn more about architecture in general.

Every year, the open architecture weekend takes place in a different Lithuanian city, organised by a different team of organisers. During the weekend, 15 buildings open their doors and are guided by volunteer guides, their architects or building representatives.

In 2020, the open architecture weekend took place in Panevėžys, in 2021 – in Palanga, in 2022 – in Šiauliai, and on 9-10 September the event will take place in Druskininkai.

All events are free of charge and open to everyone.

The project is organised by the “Architektūros fondas”, a non-governmental, non-profit public institution working in the fields of architecture, culture and education.
