14. The Panevėžys Branch of State Social Insurance Fund Board (SoDra)
TagAbout
The building of the Panevėžys Branch of State Social Insurance Fund Board (usually called SoDra building) is a perfect example of the late twentieth century postmodernist architecture. The structure sprung up in the vacant plot (which was originally intended for Cultural Center of Panevėžys‘ region) near five-story apartment buildings of Tulpių district.
The three-story building is divided into three segments; offices take up most of the space inside. According to the architect, it was one of the last buildings in Lithuania to be built using old, dull materials which had already been used in construction for decades. Although, in one exchange she claimed that despite this, that designing the building was such a fun experience that she even decided to “crumple” the walls.
