The Gallery of Vytautas Kazimieras Jonynas, designed by architect Algimantas Kančas, first opened its doors to visitors in 1993. The building, erected at the time of a historical turning point for Lithuania, had a dual purpose: the gallery-house was intended for both everyday life and exhibitions, thus visitors will also discover spaces that are common to any residential building, such as a bedroom or a kitchen. After more than four decades spent in emigration, from 1989 to 1997, V. K. Jonynas enjoyed summers in Druskininkai. Today, his house-gallery, which has become a branch of the M. K. Čiurlionis Art Museum, functions as a true time capsule, with everything left as it was when the artist spent his summers here. The finishes of all the gallery rooms are authentic: the parquet flooring is typical of the 80s and 90s, as is the design of the walls, ceilings, and doors; the furniture, chandeliers, and the artist’s personal belongings are all authentic.

Tours begin every 30 minutes and last 45 minutes. Last tour on Saturday starts at 5:00 pm., on Sunday – at 3:00 pm.
No in-advance registration is required. Access to the buildings will be managed by forming queues.
